I want to widen the tire stance on my JD 4400 to the maximum. What is the safest way to jack the tractor up? Where do I place the jack? There doesn't seem to be a good place to locate jack stands. Any ideas? Obviously both wheels have to be off the ground and that makes me nervous!

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. I cleaned all the cables and still had the problem. I jumped the battery and it started normally so I replaced the battery and it starts fine. The battery was only 16 months old so I didn't think it was the problem but it was. My automatic battery charger indicated it was fully charged but clearly it wasn't or something else was happening during the starting load.

My lake place is the last one on a mile long private gravel road. I often fill in the potholes with loose gravel but that doesn't last very long. I know nothing about box scrapers but I'm wondering if this wouldn't be a good way to maintain the road. Are they tricky to use? Are there things I should avoid? I certainly don't want to make a mess out of the road for my 20 or so neighbors! Any help anyone can give me would really be appreciated. I don't want to invest in something that will make a mess out of the road! I am running a JD 4400.

I read somewhere on this board that JD has changed the suggested initial maintenance of HST from 500 hours to 50 hours. Can anyone confirm this? Do you have a dealer bulletin number?
